Image
...yes, I know, it's a Dia de los Muertos image...but it fit the category!

Save the creatures of the Gulf Coast!

Image
...or at least some of them. This original painting I did will be for sale, at ripplesketches.blogspot.com next week some time, if you make a donation to save sea turtles, pelicans, or other creatures of the Gulf Coast. But you gotta move fast! Many illustrators are donating original works in this fundraiser...check it out!

Dog shopping...who knew?

Image
We're on the search for a new puppy. I can't believe how much time it is taking...trolling the dog rescue sites, emailing, calling, setting up appointments, filling out forms.

(NO, tomato sauce doesn't work, we found out the hard way.)

Where I was yesterday...

I sold a story!

Image
Highlights magazine just bought my reworking of this Ukrainian folk tale. It's a Christmas story about a little spider who helps a sick girl, after she saves its life. What goes around, comes around, or karma, is the theme here.

How about some quilts?

Image
I'm getting ready to make another quilt, here are 2 I've made, the first is a Kaffe Fasset pattern I finished this past winter for our bed, it took me 2 summers to put together the top, and then a few months hand quilting it at night while watching TV. The 2nd is one I made a couple of years ago for my son. I took a freeform class at Stonemountain & Daughter in Berkeley. It was great fun to just cut up fabric, zip it up quick on the machine and not measure anything. Hard to see in these photos, but a lot of the blues are japanese ikat dyed fabric, and the reds all have small japanese calligraphy in black. I promised my daughter that she gets the next one.....
