New Life, New Art
It feels great to be back in my studio (now and then, not nearly enough) making art again. I moved a year ago up into the hills of Berkeley, and these paintings, a few of which I've put up here, reflect my new surroundings.
I love living up here, surrounded by trees. A cute little fox has been hanging around, I think to check out the chickens in the garden behind me. Almost every day I see him and deer, crows, hawks, and so many other birds I can't keep track of. I walk my dog on the most beautiful trail at the end of my street every day, sometimes twice.
The view of the bay that I see while driving up and down the mountain is astonishingly different every time I look. Amazing! I live here? WOW!
And, I have this wonderful new love in my life, that is just the most incredible relationship I've ever experienced. I never could have imagined a few years ago, that I would be here right now.
Living THIS life.
So, lots to celebrate!
My most recent paintings, and a few past ones, are on display at
Happy New Year to you, dear readers. How was your 2012?
Mine was really pretty good, now that I look back on it. Highlights:
- Had 2 exhibits of my work.
-Hosted an art sale in our garden. We had so much fun, it may become an annual event.
-Set up a family etsy shop. We actually sold a few things, too.
-Made more money from my artwork than ever before!
-Finished grad school: I now have 5 picture book biographies I am excited to send out into the world in 2013.
-Helped our boy finish high school and go off to college. Sent him across the country. He thrived. We survived.
-Celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday, and watched her grow into an amazing filmmaker.
-Moved into a beautiful new art studio where I teach. Trying to remember where we've put everything.
-Saw lots of art at galleries, Art Murmur, museums.
-Traveled: New York, Rhode Island, Oregon, Cazadero, Half Moon Bay, the Sierras of California.
-Turned 50! Celebrated with friends near and far.
Not a bad place to work, right? After teaching for 29 years, it is going to take some time to get used to this being my office. It's quiet. And it's all on me to make it happen here. However, it's really fun, too!
There's lots of art making going on here right now. I am working on my mailing list as well, planning to send out monthly messages about what I'm up to in the studio, workshops I'm teaching, my art sales, online shops, etc. If you would like to get these updates, write your email address in the comments below. (I will delete it quickly, I promise!) A new print just went up for sale in my Etsy shop, click on the link below: Pomegranate print This week I am the featured artist, showing my sketchbooks on : My Giant Strawberry Take a look!
