DECEMBER already?

Happy Holidays!
I never thought I'd be so busy after leaving my teaching job last June. I seem to have to work extra hard to find time to draw and paint these days.  This weekend I will be at The Crucible in Oakland, selling at their 'Gifty' holiday sale.

I decided to try out printing my artwork on scarves and I can hardly keep up with the sales. Whatever doesn't sell at Gifty will go up in my ETSY shop next week, so look out for a message about that.
Which reminds me, if you aren't on my email list and want to be, leave me your email address in the comments below and I will add you in. I am now using Mailchimp, with a goal of sending out monthly newsletters.

I currently have 16 paintings up and for sale at Rick & Ann's restaurant in Berkeley, a great place for breakfast and lunch. My paintings are all around $250-$400, and make unexpected, wonderful, and unique gifts.

I am having a lot of fun using Instagram, click on the link to follow along. And of course, I…

Studio SALE this Weekend!

Transitions... and What's Going On?

Not a bad place to work, right?  After teaching for 29 years, it is going to take some time to get used to this being my office. It's quiet. And it's all on me to make it happen here.  However, it's really fun, too!

There's lots of art making going on here right now. I am working on my mailing list as well, planning to send out monthly messages about what I'm up to in the studio, workshops I'm teaching, my art sales, online shops, etc.  If you would like to get these updates, write your email address in the comments below.
(I will delete it quickly, I promise!)
A new print just went up for sale in my Etsy shop, click on the link below: Pomegranate print
This week I am the featured artist, showing my sketchbooks on : My Giant Strawberry Take a look!
I am really having fun on Instagram, follow me here:

And in time for all the protests this weekend, I still have a few of these left:

Let me know if you want one. Have a great last week…

Swan Song + Viewing and Making Art

Big news here...   I quit my teaching job of 20 years! I'm not quite sure what I will be doing next, but I do know it will include making a lot more art. And looking for work. (Want to hire me?) I have been teaching for 29 years - wow, how did that happen? I'm feeling kind of burnt out and ready for something new.
Here are the last projects I did with my students. Above - CD weavings, made by all the students 1st-8th grade. We used old CDs as looms, warping out from the center, then weaving in a spiral. We strung them all together to create this beautiful wall hanging for the new stairwell of the upper school.

Above, clay bells, made by 7th graders. This project was so fun! We made stamps out of clay, fired them and then used them to add texture to our clay bells. The kids and I loved using each other's stamps to create beautiful patterns.

A few days ago I took the train to Sacramento to visit a dear friend who recently moved there. We spent the afternoon at the Crocke…
